I’m Peter Sweeney, a husband, father, and entrepreneur.
I've launched 4 ventures and numerous innovative products and technologies, from small bootstrapped ventures to large projects financed in excess of $20-million.
I hold over 80 patents in artificial intelligence, knowledge representation, and machine learning. I’ve designed and managed projects across a range of digital initiatives, including intelligent assistants, semantic search, content discovery and recommenders, taxonomy and content management, data analytics, e-commerce, and social media applications.
I love working in challenging early-stage and research-based teams. I’ve held a variety of leadership and operational roles: President & CEO, CTO, CSO, operations, sales, marketing, software development, and product management. I’ve managed both in-house and outside services in patent prosecution and IP acquisitions.
I began my academic studies in engineering and science, eventually switching to business to support my entrepreneurial ambitions. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto. My interests led me through studies in mathematics, statistics, science, and music.
I’ve been blogging for over a decade and have spoken at many conferences, including DEMO, the Semantic Technology Conference, Web 3.0, and IA Summit. I was formerly a mentor with the Loran Scholars Foundation, and was honoured to be named to Waterloo Region Record’s 40 Under 40 list.

My Purpose
Every entrepreneurial journey is unique and deeply personal. I found my purpose in the health and well-being of our children, and one very special patient, my son. For over 16-years, my wife Deana and I have advocated for him through countless surgeries, procedures and crises.
We've learned that solutions can’t be confined within the existing boundaries of healthcare or delegated entirely to its practitioners. It requires innovation, new perspectives, and many hands.
Much like patients themselves, AI is a massively under-utilized resource in healthcare. The combination of patient intelligence and artificial intelligence is transformative. This opportunity is the focus of my current project.
